New York | Day One

Well after nine months of waiting I finally went on my little holiday to New York, so if you're not a fan of this fine city you may want to avoid my blog for a few weeks. We booked a deal through Expedia for 4 nights/5 days staying at the Doubletree by Hilton Times Square South, which was the perfect location for us, slap bang in the middle of Times Square and Madison Square Garden/Penn Station.

We got the 8.20am flight into Newark, which meant we arrived at midday local time, thank you time difference!! We'd never flown to Newark before and it was a lot quieter than JFK, we were in Manhattan within an hour of getting off the plane and jumping on the train to Penn Station. We checked into the hotel, dumped our bags and took our tired backsides off for a wander around, where I pretty much squealed with excitement the whole time.

Our first stop was Times Square, it was heaving but just as fabulous as I remembered. We mooched around some shops, bought coffees and sat on Alicia Keys red stairs, people watching and laughing at the facial expressions of people with selfie sticks.

We didn't venture too far away as we were meeting up with my Dad, his girlfriend and some family friends for an early dinner at Brendans Grill Bar, which I definitely recommend. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the decor and food were both top notch.

  1. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing all about your trip! New York is one of those places I can't wait to see. Kris and I were looking at flights the other day and thinking about going for the holidays. What a busy place!

  3. 'Woah' is all I can muster up to say. It's not somewhere that appeals to me, but my Mam really wants to go! It looks so daunting and scary and what on earth is that homer thing?! haha Must be a mad experience though - hope you had a blast.

    Best wishes, Danielle xo
