Halloween and a 'Goodbye'

The day I'd really not been looking forward to finally came, our family home is no longer ours. Yesterday was d-day, the day my Dad moved out and the new people moved in. I took the day off so I could go and have one last goodbye, and cry my little eyes out. It's amazing how the bigger rooms in the house seemed so small without all of our 'stuff'. It wasn't home anymore, just an empty shell.

But I know it's for the best. As one door closes another opens and all that. It was definitely time for new beginnings, for Dad and for us. It'll always be 'our home', where all of our memories come from. But now it's time for a new family to enjoy it and make their own memories and I hope it brings them as much happiness as it's brought me/us.

On a lighter note it was Halloween, my favourite holiday of all. I wish we celebrated it more in the UK but I still enjoyed carving pumpkins, decorating the window and watching what I thought was a scary film (turns out it was sci-fi, gutted). Sadly we didn't have a single trick-or-treater so I will be tucking into the sweets tonight as I finish unpacking the flat.

Here are my pumpkins:

Hope you had a great halloween.

  1. I hate moving house so really feel for you. I was born in our family home, it was really hard when my parents sold it when I was 17. Love your pumpkins :) xx
